Napoleon Bonaparte was known as one of the most prolific figures in all of France. He was most prevalent during the late 1700s, mainly during the French Revolution. He was a strong military leader and an emperor who conquered and ruled over much of Europe in the 19th century. After seizing political power in France in a 1799 coup d'etat, he crowned himself as the self proclaimed emperor in 1804. In 1812, Napoleon was abdicated and was exiled to the island of Elba due to a failed, disastrous French invasion of Russia. After a couple years in 1815, Napoleon returned to power in his Hundred Days campaign. While taking an excessive beating at the Battle of Waterloo, he was exiled once again to the island of Saint Helena. Being one of the most iconic and controversial figures in all of France, Napoleon Bonaparte is definitely considered one of the biggest revolutionaries of all time.
