Empathy in technology

I feel that this meme describes the effects of technology perfectly. People are constantly trying to get their friends or loved ones to talk and their face is burried in their cell phone. Technology is taking the value of a real conversation and throwing it away. Now you can't hear someone's emotion because you're just reading a text. People do not feel like they have to sit people down to tell them big news, they just send them a text and that's that. It is truly sad that kids will all get together and still have the audacity to text each other. It is going to have an awful effect in the long run when they have to actual work with peers and communicate, and have a formal interview. These new norms that everyone follows is eventually going to come back and bit them in the butt!

The Effect of Technology on Relationships

You may not know it, but technology has a serious impact on relationships today.  Society has taken over our entire world and it is only going to get worse from here.  Advancements in technology are rapidly increasing daily.  Online dating sites have become more and more popular.  Due to the new technology, people have become lazy and simply "signed up" to find a partner for themselves.  What people do not understand is that some of these sites could be phony, and the people using the site could be fake, or even dangerous.  Technology is causing people to become more and more distant with personal contact and face to face communication.  Everyone feels safer behind a computer screen or a text message.  Back in the day, face to face confrontation was the only thing people did.  There was no question whether or not they should communicate in person.  They did not have the same technology as we did, and they simply knew it was better to talk in person.  Technology is making us humans become more distant from one another.  Also, everything on the internet or sent through a message via mobile device is permanent.  There is no erasing or getting rid of pictures and messages through the cloud.  Technology is extremely dangerous when coming to relationships.

The effects of the industrial revolution on women and children

http://www.womeninworldhistory.com/lesson7.html

The industrial revolution had a mass impact on both women and children. For the first time in history, women were meant to have a role other then a house Mom. They had to go and work in factories. This obviously means that the children were left without parents, or were forced to work in sweatshops. These shops had extremely poor and unworkable conditions with little to no pay along with it. This eventually leads to child labor laws, but up to that point kids were being forced into this field of work.

Impact of Technology on Relationships

Technology has a negative effect on human relationships in a few ways. Due to our phones being constant distractions, we allow ourselves to block out everyone and everything, including a possible romantic partner. When we are on our phones and the couple is texting, there are often times where one of the partners do not understand the tone or feeling of the text being sent. This leads to the biggest issue, which is having relationships, but not seeing or touching each other nearly as much as they should. Humans require some communication and touch, but these phones serve as such huge distractions and necessities, which is a problem that causes break ups or divorce. As weird as it may sound, humans need touch, and a hug is more significant than an emoji sent. Unfortunately, this has been an ongoing thing for years now, and there doesn't seem to be a clear solution in finding ways to use less technology when involved in a serious relationship.

Impact of Technology on Intimate Relationships

Lately everyone seems to be turned on with their handheld devices and disconnected to the loves ones around them. These devices have undeniably became a partial piece to our daily lives. Yes, we must be connected with one another on social media sites, but that also means we are distracted. We are distracted from the world around us, and especially our romantic partners. The key to each relationship is effort, and most long for attention, but now a days we lack to give them. The attention is drawn to the devices and not people, their is no communication between each other anymore. A relationship is two people, but now there is a third person in most pictures... a cellphone. Being on your device while your'e spending "quality" time together, only shows that you are more interested in whats going on, on the phone. It gives the other partner a sense of less importance, feeling as if they aren't enough to gain your attention. It's like a fighting battle with couples now. What is more satisfying on your device to completely shut out your loved one? It's a dividing factor. When you stop and put the phone down for a while, you'll see how disconnected couples are out in public. It's depressing, and potentially ruins relationships. Most importantly, ruining intimacy.

Technology in Relationships

Nowadays, people often hide behind their phones. People do not understand the importance of communicating how they truly feel; instead they believe it is better to avoid all this by just disappearing.  Technology is removing the intimacy from relationships and marriages. It also creates a distraction within relationships as well. Couples have begun to communicate more through text and bringing intimacy to the phone as well. In-person relationships don't seem to matter anymore. Couples today most likely met online on some form of social media or dating website, which definitely sets a tone for their relationship. Methods such as "ghosting" have been developed as a result of minimal communication and the desire to avoid the other. Personally, i would be very offended if i was ghosted, and i would definitely want an explanation. It should not be that easy to just drop something, and no one should want to make someone feel so lost and helpless.

The Effects of the Industrial Revolution on Children and Family

Majority of the talk during the Industrial Revolution was on women in the factories, but I believe the children had it way worse. They worked up to 19 hours a day, with a one hour total break, and for little to no pay. Children were only paid a fraction of what the adults were getting paid and sometimes they would get away with not paying them at all. They also worked with large and heavy equipment which can dangerously harm them with ease. The biggest target for child slave-like labor were orphans. The factory owners justified their absence on the payroll by saying they were giving the orphans food, shelter, and clothing,

The Effects the Industrial Revolution had on Women and Children

Life for Women and Children during the Industrial Revolution was no where near the way women and children are living today.  Working conditions in factories and other areas did not have many rules when coming to who works, how much the person gets paid, how long they are working for, what they are doing, etc.  Factory owners needed a lot of workers who did not need to get paid much, did not complain, and were not educated enough to think what was going on was wrong.  This is why kids were the perfect ones for the jobs.  Kids are also tiny enough to fit in smaller spaces or reach in smaller spaces adults can not.  Children began working in all different industries.  These kids also did not attend school during this time because of work, the expenses, and the fact that it was simply not a high demand.

Women during this time faced different demands than they do now.  Women were expected to go out to work in factories.  Some lucky women were maids for wealthy families, while other unlucky ones had to work in rougher areas.  Women were also pressured to have babies because of the high demand for working children.  The birth rate rapidly increased during this time.

The Effects That the Industrial Revolution Had on Women and Children

As the Industrial Revolution emerged, factories were spreading rapidly and the owners needed workers immediately. With the high amount of work that needed to be done, the owners refused to pay high wages. They knew that hiring children would be their easy way out, but more like their cheap way. Unfortunately during this time families needed the money so it was only practical for the kids to take on such jobs. The factories took advantage of the small children not being educated, and used their size to help move through the small dangerous machinery that adults couldn't. Restrictions and a certain amount of working hours did not exist. The kids never complained nor the parents because the working class families needed the extra income, no matter how unsafe.

As the children worked, the women took on the role of laboring as well. They were able to find jobs in textile factories, piece work shops and even coal mines. Just like the environment the children were working in the women's weren't any safer. All the machinery in the factories were dangerously clustered together, and the work areas were chaotic. These women would work long hours and have to come home to finish up their domestic work to keep the house hold running. The women during this time period had a lot to juggle to keep their own families running.

The Effects of the Industrial Revolution on Women and Children

The Industrial Revolution had positive and festive effects on women and their children. During the Industrial Revolution, women usually worked in unsafe and unsanitary working conditions, as factory work was not initially regulated by the government. Women often worked in dangerous mill towns and textile factories, and they were paid far less than men. On the other hand, many of these women were forced to leave their homes and live independently. This allowed them to be part of social activism and more labor movements, which allowed them to have a say in changing the dangerous working conditions. This also helped women support themselves and their families by making enough money there. As for children, they were forced to taken from their families, sent to go work, and were considered cheap child labor. Children also had to work in dangerous working conditions, which often caused diseases that could become life-threatening. Unlike women, there were hardly any benefits for children except for the ones that had working parents, and they were able to have a somewhat enjoyable childhood.

The Effects of the Industrial Revolution on Women and the Family

The Industrial Revolution was full of improvements in technology, mass producing and factory manufacturing. This led to many job opportunities for women and children that were outside of their typical in-home jobs.

Women worked in dangerous and disgusting working conditions during the Industrial Revolution. Women were payed less than men. Women worked in overcrowded environments such as the 129 women who died in the unsafe conditions of the Triangle shirtwaist factory. On the other hand, the Industrial Revolution was the start of women independence. Women were able to leave their homes, become socially active and join labor movements. Since women worked everyday, they gained enough money on their own to support both themselves and their children.

Furthermore, child labor was one of the outcomes of the Industrial Revolution. Children were taken from their families and sent to work in dangerous conditions for cheap labor. Many children developed lifelong negative effects due to these horrible conditions and the workers taken advantage of them. However, children, who worked during the Industrial Revolution, were able to make more money and achieve greater economic benefits for survival. Childhood development was also increased because children were often on their own and very independent. They had to be away from their families and work in dangerous conditions.

The Effects of Industrial Revolution on Women & Children

The Industrial Revolution was more brutal than it was kind, especially to women and children. In both England and the U.S Women and children would work in unsafe and unsanitary conditions, factory work was not initially regulated by the governments at the time. Female industrial-era workers mainly were stationed in "Mill Towns" for example, Lowell, Massachusetts, were there lives were completely dominated by the company and were making less profit for working more hours than men. There were may tragedies during this era, for example the "Triangle shirtwaist factory fire where 129 women and 17 men were traps and burned alive due to the safety protocol of locking the outdoors due to theft precaution.  Many women left their homes at this time to began an independent life, this caused an out-roar and protesting was at an all time high. Once the protesting reach a national security level wages for women increased and women were making a enough money than to support their families and themselves. As for children, children had it bad, they were forced into working in factories for little pay and long hours. This would some what remind you of slavery, they worked in harsh conditions same as women and many lives were lost as may factories caused children to have long term diseases and health issues that were untreatable during this era.

Empathy in technology

Modern day technology makes it so easy to communicate and stay in touch with your family and the ones you love. When you love, you have empathy for another person, you understand and feel for somebody else. Unfortunately this theme is slipping in the black hole of technology, iphones and ipads. This is because we do not have to actually speak and sense emotion, we simply take the text message we receive and then move on. A text message does not give the impact that a actual conversation has.

Technology is Killing Empathy...Kind of

I do believe technology is killing empathy, but only to an extent. I think we are having less human to human conversation and that is very alarming. We would rather go on Facebook or Instagram, then have a genuine conversation with a family member, friend, or even someone you meet for the first time. On the other side of the coin and on a personal note, I have one of my best friends that lives in California. The only way we can actually talk to one another is through phone calls and messaging. We have been friends for over six years and actually talk every single day. Without technology, I would never be able to communicate with him on a daily basis. In terms of actual human connections, I do believe technology is harming us in a way. I don't think its killing it completely though.and I do think we all still have a little empathy still left in us somewhere.

Is Technology Destroying Empathy?

The definition of empathy is being able to understand and share other peoples feelings.  Technology is destroying this personal human contact and communication.  All of these technological advances today impact our society greatly.  Our world revolves around technology, and some people do not know any better than to rely on it.  Children today are being handed phones and other electronic devices earlier and earlier each year.  They do not know any better than to use the technology.  It is intimidating that some young children are more advanced then adults when coming to technology.  Technology has ruined the way we think, learn, and act.  I believe technology has had more of a negative impact on us humans today, rather than a positive one.  Without human to human contact and conversation, no one can get a true understanding of how someone is feeling.  A text can be misleading.  Even I have experienced reading a text message one way when the person sending the message meant it to mean a completely different thing.  Even without hearing someones tone of voice or seeing their facial expressions, effects how people get messages or feelings across.

The Negative Side of Technology

During the earlier decades, technology was used to create medicine, new transportation systems and machinery, trying to find a sustainable way to live. Now a days, we live in such a high tech world, we have lost all our basic skills. "More than a third of children under the age of two use mobile media. That number only increases as children age, with 95% of teens 12-17 spending time online" (DeLoach, 2015). Because children are introduced with this type of technology at such a young age, they don't know any better. It can effect the way kids think, leading them to be easily distracted from the more important tasks at hand. This generation is so used to communicating through via text, online, or social media apps, there is now a lack of social interaction. Physical contact is lessening, and kids are found hiding behind their phones to build up the confidence they would never have in person. This also can lead to one of the number one issues we face daily; cyber bullying. Social media is an outlet that normally only glorifies someone else's life and never shows the negatives. This gives the common viewers a false reality that they feed into wishing they had the same. Unfortunately the quality time people once spent with each other is slowly loosing its purpose. Whatever is on your phone, clearly shows it is more important than the person or people you are with. This can emotionally affect someone, especially in an intimate relationship, friendship, or family member. Times are changing, and so are basic social skills. We are now missing out on the life around us, and are being sucked into the world of technology.

Empathy in Technology

I think technology has a negative impact on society, and is hurting the empathy in the world. Technology should be more of a positive, because it helps make communicating so much easier. Unfortunately, most people use it to avoid talking to others, and leads to less human contact, which humans still want. Technology has ultimately caused more issues, like in relationships, friendships, and other types of groups of people, because they will hide behind their phones and say whatever they want, but not face to face. Therefore, less communication, less human interaction, and more issues in society all point to technology being a negative, and hurting any empathy left in the world.

empathy in technology

Technology is good and also bad for society which people don't realize, we need technology to survive and strive as well as communicate with the rest of the world.  Technology blocks human communication to an extent, but technology also makes us smarter. If we use technology right and don't abuse it, than we can find oursleves eager to learn. Now kids don't even want to go to class because they have the internet to just be their source of educational guidance.  A human must learn the fundamentals and skills of the world from another human. Technology should only be used by mature minds, ones than won't have to rely on a cell phone to get everything they need in life. Bottom line i don't think technology is killing our society i just think were doing a bad job of containing it.

Empathy in Technology

Technology should used as a revolutionary form of communication, making all of our lives better. However, it does the opposite. Technology hurts society because it takes away the personable and human contact. People bece distant from one another and rarely talk in person anymore. No one cares about maintaining relationships because they can just hide behind their phone screen or social media account. When people are put in tough situations, they don't know how to react anymore because they are used to communicating through social media. Technology is killing all the empathy that is left in the world.

Abe Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States, and served as a lawyer before he came to office. He did some pretty big things in his presidency such as issue the emancipation proclamation, which was the process of freeing Americas slaves. This proclamation eventually led to the end of slavery as a whole. The thirteenth amendment is what finally put an end to slavery as a whole, but it could not have been done without President Lincoln. Unfortunately Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Nevertheless, President Lincoln did some pretty amazing things for this country.

Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin was born in January 1706.  He had nine siblings, and was best known as one of the Founding Fathers who drafted the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States.  Franklin also consulted the 1783 treaty of Paris, ending the Revolutionary War.  At the age of 12, he would help his brother, a printer, sell their products in the streets, but he did not write his own. He knew his brother would not want him doing that, so at age 15 he snuck his letters under doors at night.  After 16 secret letters, Franklin eventually confessed he was the secret author.  His brother was jealous because Benjamin's writings were so good and he was getting all the attention.  Franklin's printing business was at an all time high in the 1730s and 1740s.  A few years following, he began making inventions still around and useful today.  For example, he invented a heat-efficient stove, and electricity.
