Napoleon Bonaparte

Napoleon Bonaparte was known as one of the most prolific figures in all of France. He was most prevalent during the late 1700s, mainly during the French Revolution. He was a strong military leader and an emperor who conquered and ruled over much of Europe in the 19th century. After seizing political power in France in a 1799 coup d'etat, he crowned himself as the self proclaimed emperor in 1804. In 1812, Napoleon was abdicated and was exiled to the island of Elba due to a failed, disastrous French invasion of Russia. After a couple years in 1815, Napoleon returned to power in his Hundred Days campaign. While taking an excessive beating at the Battle of Waterloo, he was exiled once again to the island of Saint Helena. Being one of the most iconic and controversial figures in all of France, Napoleon Bonaparte is definitely considered one of the biggest revolutionaries of all time.

Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin was one the most accomplished Americans of the 18th century, and his impact still lasts today. He was a statesman, an author, a publisher, a scientist, an inventor and a diplomat throughout his long life. During the American Revolution, he was part of the Second Continental Congress and helped create the Declaration of Independence in 1776. He was a big part in obtaining support from King Louis XVI of France and in the signing of the important military alliance of 1778.  Franklin also negotiated the 1783 Treaty of Paris which effectively ended the Revolutionary War.  In 1787, in his final significant act of public service, he was a delegate to the convention that produced the U.S. Constitution. These are just a few of the significant reasons why Benjamin Franklin is considered one of the key American revolutionists of all time.

Henry Ford's Revolutionary Impact

Image result for henry ford model t

During the late 1800's and early 1900's, only the rich could afford the luxury of having their modern time automobiles. While the middle class lacked the convenience of transportation, Henry Ford took notice. Coming from a background of a machinist, and operating on steam engines, it gave him the knowledge to create an everyday invention. Even after a full days of work, Ford would spend hours on putting together a gasoline powered horseless carriage. After successfully creating the engine, it further sparked the drive to improve on his prototype. Ford sold what he had to purchase more advanced automobile parts for his next invention and teamed up with the Detroit Automobile Company. The constant need for improvement from Ford grew a frustration with the company. He left Detroit Automobile to establish his own, claiming his name as the title of the company in 1902. After the leave, the first "Ford" car was built with a limited amount of men working on the production of the car. Ford's dedication increased for production, thus wanting a more affordable and reliable car for everyone to drive. The business started to boom when the Model T was put on the market. This automobile by 1918 was half of the American population's cars.  Ford did not care about the money, he wanted to make sure that the workers were being paid properly. He was strongly against the labor force. And with the mass production being so high he brought to light, large production plants, and the moving assembly line. As time went on and more improved motors were established, plants opened around the world, for more production. His vision, and commitment to lower the prices positively impacted the middle class. Reflecting on the years of improvement of motors Ford has created, we would not be where we are now with modern day 2017 cars. He was the first to build a running gasoline motor and pushed for mass production. Ford's Company is one of the top car distributors still till this day. He has revolutionized the American workforce along with automobiles, and for that we should thank him.

George Washington

George Washington had little experience in being a commanding officer in the military, but his strong leadership and fortitude helped save America by securing victory at Yorktown and independence for our nation. But thats just one great thing he did during his time, George Washington was also one of if not the greatest president America has ever had. Washington valued the people rather than thinking of them as less than himself, Presidential Scholar at Harvard Univeristy one observed Washington and stated," it wasn't his generalship that made him stand out.. It was the way he attended to and stuck by his men. His soldiers knew that he respected and cared for them, and that he would share their severe hardships." That is what made him a revelutionary, not only was he a president who acted like one of the people, but he a great mind with a great ambition to secure liberty and freedom for Americans.

Thomas Jefferson, One of the Most Substantial Revolutionary Figures in American History.

A revolutionary figure is someone who makes a valuable and important change in history. Thomas Jefferson is an extraordinary example of a revolutionary figure in America. He accomplished great things for our country throughout his life. He always worked for the government. Is Google Making Us Stupid?

From the two articles assigned and from personal experience myself, google and technology is affecting our lives in a negative way.  Technology is rapidly improving and becoming more advanced and addictive every day.  Children today growing up in this tech savvy world have no choice but to partake in all of the social media.  Even while doing my homework, social media is always up next to me.  The internet is completely taking over our lives, and in some ways ruining them too.  Yes, I do believe google is making us stupid and shortening our attention span.  My mind always wanders off when I am surfing the internet, and I never end up searching just one thing.  Due to the fact that today people can get information immediately, books are becoming less and less useful.  No one wants to take the time and put in effort to find information, when they can click one button and have the same results.

Google's Effect on Us

Technology through out our current decade has been rapidly improving daily. The new generation of young adolescents and teens are surrounded by the digital advantages. The most impacting invention; the computer, which gave us the ability to search the web. The numbers of individuals using Google as their household search engine, increases everyday. Unfortunately with that being said we are over using the sole purpose of google, and not gaining any knowledge long term. Knowing that the information is a click away, we have become lazy. The critical thinking part of our brain is rarely used anymore. Researching a topic gives you multiple links to browse through, thus going back and forth from each one causing us to lose our focus. The main issue at hand is that we are relying on a search engine to do all the work for us resulting in looking up information, but never retaining it.

Google has hurt our brains

Like the articles said, the internet has affected the way we think and not in a positive way. When, I'm on the internet, my mind wanders and I often forget what I'm even reading. Because of this, I hardly ever read outside of the internet anymore, and when I rarely do, I get distracted and bored easily. Technology has taken over the world, but there are negatives that come with it l. For example, people are much more socially awkward now than before phones and computers took over our lives. Its becoming a daily basis where you see two people standing right by eachother and staring at their phones instead of talking. These are just a few examples of the negative effect google, and all technology as a whole, has on our brains.

Google IS Harming Our Brain

http://fortune.com/2016/02/03/nicholas-carr-internet/
As discussed in the articles assigned to us and the one in the link above, the internet has changed the way we comprehend things; this results in negative changes in our brain. I agree that google causes our concentration to drift, because I find myself getting very fidgety when surfing the web. Having the ability to power-browse and complete research in seconds, causes people to stop reading books traditionally. People have begun to use computers more and more often in society. The more people use computers, they less social interaction the brain receives, which is problematic. I was unaware that the Internet Addiction Disorder existed, but I do believe some people have it due to their impaired judgement.
