                What many don't know is that women had such a positive effect on science and technologies advancement. Women would never have a chance to speak or spread their ideas in earlier ages but now it is accepted for women to announce their ideas and have an impact on life and culture. Women like Ruzena Bajcsy had a major role to play in technology, Ruzena "helped create robots that could sense and respond to their environment. She now heads an innovative institute where researchers develop smart low-power sensors that both compute and communicate. " Ruzena is a women to admire.

               Technology has a negative affect to empathy now, people find that its easier to break up with their peer over a text. Some even, will ask someone to marry them on a phone call. How ridiculous right? Well to some people not too much.... People live by technology, it's their life. Without technology some people would fall into a deep depression and collapse mentally. It would be a smart idea for the government to put regulations on technology usage so that people dont fall too attached to their phones that they marry them instead of a spouse.

There are a couple reasons why technology is really hurting our relationships. Having our phones in our hands 24/7 severely takes away time from spending with our significant other. We look at our phones alarming way more than we look at partners. Also when sending text messages, we can never actually get a sense of how the person is feeling just from a written message. The biggest problem though with always being on our phones is the absence of human contact. Without experiencing feeling or touch, we start to become more like phones and less like human beings. The biggest thing we have between humans and machines are our emotions. The way we are living now, it's not going to be long til we question that last statement.

We usually forget about the dangers of technology, and especially posting on social media on such a constant basis. It can cause real problems such as people trying to find out personal information, or trying to invade your privacy just based on a social media account. Our generation is so addicted to technology and our devices that we totally forget about the harm it brings upon us. We definitely have to be more careful and aware of how we use technology, even if it is so easily accessible.

Totalitarianism is the absolute control by the state or a governing branch of a highly centralized institution. In terms of technology in the modern time, our cellphones are basically our overlord and ruler. Whenever we go to school, the movies, or to the bars, our phones are always keeping a tight track on our location. Even if we turn our location off on our phones, there are still means of tracking us. We all also put our phones on a higher pedestal than anything else. In some cases in our society today, we consider the love for our phones to be more important and influential then our own friends and families.

Woman in Science

Women weren't always accepted in the fields of Science and Technology. But the woman that I personally think is the most important and iconic in Science and Technology is Grace Murray Hopper. She is most well known and credited for being one of the programmers of the Mark I computer. She also invented the first compiler for a computer programming language. If we didn't have the brilliant mind of Grace Murray Hopper, we might not have the luxury of the personal computer or even the military technology that we use today.

Women have made significant contributions to the science field for hundreds of years. The involvement of women in the field of medicine occurred in several early civilizations. Women contributed to the proto-science of alchemy in the first or second centuries. During the Middle Ages, convents were an important place of education for women, and some of these communities provided opportunities for women to contribute to scholarly research. The first known woman to attend a university in a scientific field of studies was Laura Bassi, an eighteenth century Italian scientist. During the nineteenth century, women were excluded from more formal type of scientific education, but they began to be admitted into learned societies. In the nineteenth century, the rise of the women's college provided jobs for women scientists, and opportunities for education. This led Marie Curie to become the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize in 1903, and then went on to become a double Nobel Prize recipient in 1911. Both Nobel Prize awards were for her work on radiation. Overall, seventeen women have been awarded the Nobel Prize in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine.

Women were excluded for a while in the field of science and technology. In the past they weren't given a chance to do anything besides cook and clean. It was a big deal for Emilie du Chatelet to be recognized for her great accomplishments in the 1700's. She started it all for the women in the field of science. Chatelet worked with Voltaire on energy. They worked in the field of physics and were able to establish is much further. They used velocity to define mass. and established the equation E=mv^2

Totalitarianism is a political system that has complete control over society, requiring everyone to obey the state completely.  Today, technology surrounds us everywhere.  People use phones and cameras and take pictures of everything.  Then, they upload them to social media and websites.  By doing this, it allows totalitarianism to bloom.  This gives government access to everything and lets them know what you are doing at all times.  Once the upload button is hit, the pictures or videos are on the web forever and can never be removed.  Even if they may seem to be deleted, they are still in the cloud.  "People are becoming more and more like machines." -Edward T. Technology surrounds us in our everyday lives everyday; we operate phones, computers, cameras exc. We post updates on our lives, who we hangout with, where we are and the fun we are having. How does things like this allow totalitarianism to bloom? Once you post online its there FOREVER, even after death. There is no privacy when using online databases. What we don't realize now a days is just how dangerous this is, people who may potentially want to harm you can easily find you, or those u don't want knowing your privacy can see everything. We have to learn to be smarter with how we use technology, sooner or later it will own us.

Technology has taken over our lives. We plan our days around technology. We let it affect how we think, we feel, we portray ourselves, etc. Because we let this technology into so many aspects of our lives, we fall to totalitarianism, and feed into it. Most people don't realize that the government has the ability to control everything that is put on the internet. Surveillance is used on cameras, search histories and computers. 

Technologies that have Transformed Warfare

Advancements in technologies have changed the field of warfare for the better. Combat drones are used to deploy weapons from the air. Troops are able to control this from far away, which keeps them out of danger. Submarines are used in the navy to attack enemy ships. They are capable of attacking from under the water. They also carry missiles, aid in land attacks, and create blockades. Stealth aircrafts are more advanced then regular airplanes. They have the ability to hide themselves from the radar, radio, and spectrums, which will lead to a successful attack. Nuclear weapons are the most destructive and only used in the worst case possible. As time goes on, technology improves and becomes more and more precise.

     I feel that this meme describes the effects of technology perfectly. People are constantly trying to get their friends or loved ones to talk and their face is burried in their cell phone. Technology is taking the value of a real conversation and throwing it away. Now you can't hear someone's emotion because you're just reading a text. People do not feel like they have to sit people down to tell them big news, they just send them a text and that's that. It is truly sad that kids will all get together and still have the audacity to text each other. It is going to have an awful effect in the long run when they have to actual work with peers and communicate, and have a formal interview. These new norms that everyone follows is eventually going to come back and bit them in the butt!

You may not know it, but technology has a serious impact on relationships today.  Society has taken over our entire world and it is only going to get worse from here.  Advancements in technology are rapidly increasing daily.  Online dating sites have become more and more popular.  Due to the new technology, people have become lazy and simply "signed up" to find a partner for themselves.  What people do not understand is that some of these sites could be phony, and the people using the site could be fake, or even dangerous.  Technology is causing people to become more and more distant with personal contact and face to face communication.  Everyone feels safer behind a computer screen or a text message.  Back in the day, face to face confrontation was the only thing people did.  There was no question whether or not they should communicate in person.  They did not have the same technology as we did, and they simply knew it was better to talk in person.  Technology is making us humans become more distant from one another.  Also, everything on the internet or sent through a message via mobile device is permanent.  There is no erasing or getting rid of pictures and messages through the cloud.  Technology is extremely dangerous when coming to relationships.

     The industrial revolution had a mass impact on both women and children. For the first time in history, women were meant to have a role other then a house Mom. They had to go and work in factories. This obviously means that the children were left without parents, or were forced to work in sweatshops. These shops had extremely poor and unworkable conditions with little to no pay along with it. This eventually leads to child labor laws, but up to that point kids were being forced into this field of work.

Technology has a negative effect on human relationships in a few ways. Due to our phones being constant distractions, we allow ourselves to block out everyone and everything, including a possible romantic partner. When we are on our phones and the couple is texting, there are often times where one of the partners do not understand the tone or feeling of the text being sent. This leads to the biggest issue, which is having relationships, but not seeing or touching each other nearly as much as they should. Humans require some communication and touch, but these phones serve as such huge distractions and necessities, which is a problem that causes break ups or divorce. As weird as it may sound, humans need touch, and a hug is more significant than an emoji sent. Unfortunately, this has been an ongoing thing for years now, and there doesn't seem to be a clear solution in finding ways to use less technology when involved in a serious relationship.

Lately everyone seems to be turned on with their handheld devices and disconnected to the loves ones around them. These devices have undeniably became a partial piece to our daily lives. Yes, we must be connected with one another on social media sites, but that also means we are distracted. We are distracted from the world around us, and especially our romantic partners. The key to each relationship is effort, and most long for attention, but now a days we lack to give them. The attention is drawn to the devices and not people, their is no communication between each other anymore. A relationship is two people, but now there is a third person in most pictures... a cellphone. Being on your device while your'e spending "quality" time together, only shows that you are more interested in whats going on, on the phone. It gives the other partner a sense of less importance, feeling as if they aren't enough to gain your attention. It's like a fighting battle with couples now. What is more satisfying on your device to completely shut out your loved one? It's a dividing factor. When you stop and put the phone down for a while, you'll see how disconnected couples are out in public. It's depressing, and potentially ruins relationships. Most importantly, ruining intimacy.

Nowadays, people often hide behind their phones. People do not understand the importance of communicating how they truly feel; instead they believe it is better to avoid all this by just disappearing.  Technology is removing the intimacy from relationships and marriages. It also creates a distraction within relationships as well. Couples have begun to communicate more through text and bringing intimacy to the phone as well. In-person relationships don't seem to matter anymore. Couples today most likely met online on some form of social media or dating website, which definitely sets a tone for their relationship. Methods such as "ghosting" have been developed as a result of minimal communication and the desire to avoid the other. Personally, i would be very offended if i was ghosted, and i would definitely want an explanation. It should not be that easy to just drop something, and no one should want to make someone feel so lost and helpless.

The Effects of the Industrial Revolution on Children and Family

Majority of the talk during the Industrial Revolution was on women in the factories, but I believe the children had it way worse. They worked up to 19 hours a day, with a one hour total break, and for little to no pay. Children were only paid a fraction of what the adults were getting paid and sometimes they would get away with not paying them at all. They also worked with large and heavy equipment which can dangerously harm them with ease. The biggest target for child slave-like labor were orphans. The factory owners justified their absence on the payroll by saying they were giving the orphans food, shelter, and clothing,

The Effects the Industrial Revolution had on Women and Children

Life for Women and Children during the Industrial Revolution was no where near the way women and children are living today.  Working conditions in factories and other areas did not have many rules when coming to who works, how much the person gets paid, how long they are working for, what they are doing, etc.  Factory owners needed a lot of workers who did not need to get paid much, did not complain, and were not educated enough to think what was going on was wrong.  This is why kids were the perfect ones for the jobs.  Kids are also tiny enough to fit in smaller spaces or reach in smaller spaces adults can not.  Children began working in all different industries.  These kids also did not attend school during this time because of work, the expenses, and the fact that it was simply not a high demand.

Women during this time faced different demands than they do now.  Women were expected to go out to work in factories.  Some lucky women were maids for wealthy families, while other unlucky ones had to work in rougher areas.  Women were also pressured to have babies because of the high demand for working children.  The birth rate rapidly increased during this time.
